My rear differential has developed a leak where the u-joint is connected to. Is this something I need to worry about or just add the oil in from time to time? I really hate to take it apart to just fix a little leak. Thanks

Pinion seal leaking - check for blocked breather hose before replacing.

If it is a bad seal - yes, replace it! If oil can get out, water can get in. Check to see if your gear oil is milky.

Do you need to remove the 3rd member for the seal replacment? Also, do you need a special tool?

Dead easy - you'll use less than an hour. Article on Ottos pages:

But blocked breather is more likely, as Billb suggest.

I checked my breather already and it looks fine. Thanks for the link. It is much appreciated.
