Hi Gang,
What is a VSS? Where is it located? How Much is it? What are the symptoms if it is bad? |

Speed sensor
It feeds the information that makes the speedo, fuel injection, cruise control, etc work. So problems with those items are an indication. There is a service bulletin on this item that covers dropping out of cruise control, and another for engine dropping dead for no apparent reason.
The VSS is located on the left side, upper of the transfer case.
One of the service managers at LR Alexandria tried to talk me out of swapping mine. I swapped the VSS and no more symptoms.
