The previous limb riser discussion has been "closed" ... I would have added to it.

Here are pictures of my recently created/added limb risers.

Mark,

Very Cool!

What is the piece that attaches to the front bumper and where did you get it?

Trevorh,

The brush bar clamps were custom made to my specs by RWA Machining & Welding in Ruckersville, VA

Because they are a "one-time" custom item, they cost me $75 for the pair. I could not find a better off the shelf method for clamping to the brush bar.

They are made from stainless steel

I know, I know.... for twice that I could have bought some LR shop manuals instead.

Anon,
The rack is a "safari" from Atlantic British. Its made by Surco. The mesh floor on it is my creation.

Will,
Yes, when I get bored with driving I do some running on the "side boards". They came with the truck and I haven't had a good reason to remove them. If you don't like them I'll remove them immediately..... or I'll wait until a big trail rock does it for me.

Do people have much trouble with the bonnet fouling in the limb risers? I see that at the bottom the risers are mounted out on the bullbar far enough to avoid the bonnet, but often the rack they attach to is narrower.

Dude:
Is your truck (SE7) for sale? I could've sworn I saw that thing going 29 N today by the Krispy Kreme with a "For Sale" sign in the window.

Wow !
I wanted to talk limb risers and folks are showing a very strong lack of concentration... but I am amused and will play the game a bit more.

jp,
I have the OME HD shocks and springs. What that has to do with limb risers I don't know... except that perhaps your concerned with my 2 inch increase in limb catching ability. I like the ride and improved handling with the OME HD. Thanks for asking.

niall,
I don't plan to leave the risers on permanently and am also concerned with the bonnet clearance.
A wider rack would be very nice but then I'd get questions about how I planned to clear trees when the truck leans left or right on narrow trails. I doubt that, without the chainsaw roof rack mod, all limbs and trees of substantial size will get spread by these weed slappers. Thanks for paying attention to the subject.

Ronward,
As I understand it, the POS of POSeur refers to "Piece Of Shit". If that's the way you feel about my limb risers and/or truck... I defer to your indepth knowledge of fecal matter. Thanks for your expert analysis. If that's not what you meant then ....... Excuuuuuse meeeeeee!
Keep on danc'n....

Mr. Noee,
You live way too nearby to suggest Krispy Kreme is my preference. When I did eat donuts daily, I much prefered Dunkin Donuts.... mainly because there was cute sales girl at the Ruckersville DD who always made sure my coffee was no more than 15 minutes old. Oh,... you say she did that for everyone... now I don't feel special. Everyone has their price and I'm sure that for the right $$$$$$$$$$$$$ I would sell my POSeur with or without a KK sign. Nop not yet.

29 north and ruckersville....sounds familiar. I grew up in C'ville but am in CO now. Will be back in C'ville this summer and looking for people to drive with sometimes. Let me get an e-mail if anyone is interested.

Marked,

I think your limb risers look good. I have a couple of suggestions that I think are improvements. When I made mine I went with stainless "tubular" turnbuckles. You can get them at a good marine supply. They look way better than the hardware store cheapo turnbuckles. I also went with mini carabineers at each end for quick on and off. If you care to make those changes and drop the plastic tubing it will look "factory" and less homemade. Well, you wanted to talk limb risers. I hope I didn't rain on your parade.

No offense here, but all the limb risers look cheapo to me. :)

Mike,
I don't mind constructive criticism.

This is my first pass at limb risers. I too don't like the tubing but it gives me peace of mind about the bonnet metal to metal contact near the brush bar. The tubing over the turnbuckle helps to keep it from "unwinding". I'll try to get some marine turnbuckles soon.

"Anonymous",

To each his own. I think limb risers look great as in Camel Trophy cool. But more important they work very well when you go through brush. If you stay on the streets (it sounds like you do) you don't need them.

Marked,

Speaking of working well, give up on the plastic tubes. As soon as you go through the kind of stuff your limb risers are meant to help with your truck will be so scratched up you won't give a damn about a few tiny marks. My truck has 20,000 scratches and I get complements all the time on them especially from grocery getter Disco owners.

The prototype limb risers are off my truck... for now. Can I get an amen from "anon" ?
I took the truck to some property we own and got into a muddy curve with smooth rocks that the CDL could not overcome. Alone, no winch, and I had already removed the risers... so I took an alternate route through the brush and added some scratches to the sides and rack. I guess tread-lightly doesn't apply to my property .... and when I want to get unstuck. Now my truck is muddy and we're very near to no-bathing water restriction on the East coast. I'd better start collecting spit so I can eventually wash the truck!

Semi-seriously though, I like the limb riser look and they would make me easier to spot among the hundreds of LRs here in "T. Jefferson" country.

Ah, the limb-risers are ok, some even look pretty cool. The running boards ruin it for you though. They make it easier for the elderly to enter the truck, but how can you wheel with those things? So either you're just test fitting the limb risers to your truck, or you don't do much wheeling. Either way, whatever makes you feel good, do it bro. And no offense intended with the poser remark. Just having some saturday night fever.

Don't rush him!

It all starts with limb risers. Then I sold the geriatric boards and put on RTE sliders. Then the 3" RTE lift. Then ARB lockers front and rear. Then a Warn 9k winch, roof rack, Hella 5000s, 235/85 MTRs, skid plates, diff guards and the list goes on and on. I have $22,000 just in modifications on my truck. It all started with a $20 pair of homemade limb risers!

First I did the OME HD's, then ARB bumper, then skid plates, then diff protectors, then 235 85s, then RTE 2" HD springs, then roof rack, then RTE sliders, then lights, then spring spacers... Somewhere in there I did limp risers, but junked them...

I had some limb risers, then I broke one of them. Next time I am making them out of 3/8in winch cable and those turn buckles you see on big rigs
