I don't know if this is normal, or if the Auto 'box is overheating and causing this...

..I noticed that at the bottom of the gear selector, part of it is bear metal, which you can touch.

When I've been running for about 30 mins constantly, this bit of the selector shaft starts to get quite warm. It's not too hot to touch, but it's fairly hot.

Is this normal ? Can anyone check on their truck and let me know.

Yes, it's normal. All of us have learned to keep our fingers away from the metal. There's a transmission overheat light that will come on if things really get out of hand.
