I just bought a 98 se7, i love the truck. Runs, drives great But I have a very hard time engaging the diff. lock as well as the hi/low range. Maybe it was never used by the previous owner (bought it from a dealer ,as is)It eventually will lock in and the indicator light will come on but the nuetral chime sometimes will not shut off. is the shift usually tight or is there an adjustment. Need some help, Thanks Ron |

Part of the cross shaft, which connects to the bottom of the shifter is exposed to the elements. When you engage the diff lock that part moves into the housing. Sometimes just alot of use will free it up. If it has been in a cold climate where salt is used on the roads it will rust up. I just spent about 4 hours taking the console apart and the shifter apart to remove all the rust and road grime on the 94 I just bought. It works great now. See if you can get ahold of a workshop manual, it will save you some time. Cal |
