Hey
I have a 97 discovery. With 2 inches of lift.
I was wondering could I fit 31/12.50/15s The boggers are wide, and I am not sure if I can get them on there. I was gonna get some rims with the boggers, but not sure what backset i would need. It seems that you cant put wide tires on the discovery because they stuff up in the wheelwell. Any help would be good. And this seems to be where the help is got.

Discovery axles are very weak. They have floating axles. You have to be very careful when it comes to boggers.

You would be breaking new ground. It would be tight. The only way to really know is to give it a try, and then be prepared with $$ and/or a cutting wheel to work out the quirks.

Breaking new ground?

I've seen 38" Boggers on a 10 spline axle Range Rover. Obviously it had lots of lift and cutting, but the axles held up ok as far as I know.

boggers suck

they have such irregular tread they break axels at a way higher rate than other tires.

and they really dont work that much better

unless your gonna be rreally bogging in mud

there are better tires for less money that ride better.

boggers even ride like shit on gravel roads

they throw rocks(the size of golf balls)like you cant believe.

I had them they suck they suck they suck

but they do look really cool, so if your just looking to look cool at the mall go for it!

Perrone,

How many 2" lifted discos have you seen with 31/12.50/15s boggers?

Yes, I think this person will be the first if Discoweb is a good sample of the Disco community.

The width is the make or break factor for this gentleman's approach.

I will chime in, however, and say go with the bias ply TSL's. Awesome in the goo, just as strong, and more road friendly (but don't mistake that for road freindly like a radial AT or MT).

Perrone,
The 38's have not been on any of my truck's for some time. yes i never broke a 10 spline while i had them on however it began to seem like every time i went around the block i would break a diff. i learned it was not the best idea to do on a rover axle.

Thanks for the response Drew. The last time we spoke you didn't mention you had any issues with your setup but that more than a year ago.

What are you running now? I decided to go with a 24 spline rear and a Detroit. Not sure what I am doing for tires. Likely 34" TSL LTBs or 35x12.50 MT/Rs

Jeff,
The boggers are great. I have 35 x 14.5 on my 97 disco. I have an extra set of tires to run on the street and have never put them on. The boggers run very smooth on the street. If the vehicle sits for very long the tires will flat spot. It takes about 5 miles to return them to normal. Off road on rocks, dirt and snow they are great. They don't like side hilling in the snow. And I have not broke a axle yet.

Ok, so the general idea here is that the boggers wont fit... I do want the boggers for mud. there is no rock where I live. It is sand, snow and lots of mud. My buddy has a jeep with boggers and he is wicked in the mud. I wanted to know if I could get them on mine. How much of a offset rim could i go with to try and make them fit. Does anybody here think they will fit with only a 2 inch lift and some rims?
Thanks
Jeff
P.S. Part of the reason also is they look wicked a the mall.

Do you have any pictures of your disco on discoweb anywhere? I would really like to see that. That would be cool. How much lift do you have? You must of mangled your fenders!!

Jeff,

You can run the boggers. IF you are only running them in mud and sand (they suck in sand unless you have a lot of HP). Watch your articulation or you'll have to trim fenders a lot.

I have a lot of mud where I am too and I thought about getting boggers, but I've decided to just get swamper TSL LTBs or MT/Rs instead. Either one is much more practical.

As for off-set rims, unless you want to spend a fortune, there is only one offset other than stock that is available for our trucks so you are pretty much locked in.

I have the same lift and all that it sounds like you have
i posted this question about a week ago and got many of the same answers
the height is no big deal the only thing is, is the 12.50 width as you know, they will fit i put them on my rear don't know about the front i just put them on to see before buying them , i didn't buy them and i didn't get to try and stuff them and see how much trimming needed to be done,
You can fit 33x9.50's with the same amount of trimming from what i have gathered from people here and just looking at them when i had them on
after knowing that you have to ask which you want
width or hieght
i ended up getting 32x11.50 tsl sx's in the end and they should be here and i should have them on to post pics in a few weeks

Love those two doors. Makes life a little easier when it comes to big tires...

MuddyRover
So you can fit the 32/11.50s on with 2 inches of lift with no trimming? Cause maybe I would go with that. I was looking at the interco web page and the tsl sx look pretty good and they come in a 11.50. This might be a really dum question but can you fit these on the stock rim? Cause it would be even better if i didnt have to buy new rims. Anyones input would great help here.
Thanks
Jeff

I know that they would fit on a stock rim.... What I meant was the fitting of the stock rim and tire on the disco... with 2 inches of lift with 32/11.50/16's.... tsl sx's
