My red check engine light came on my 96 D1 SE7 with 52k miles on it. Would the 60k service light come on this early? Is there a 50k service? Thank a lot. |

That might be the emissions reminder coming on early. It is suppossed to come on at 82k though. Try to reset it by following the directions under the tech section and see if that resolves the problem but start getting ready to replace the O2 sensors. |

If it's the red "Service Engine" light, it is programmed to activate at @ 52,500 miles, so that you rush your truck to the dealer, have them charge you $$$ to do a once-over on the emmissions system and give them a chance to find anything else they can to justify charging you more $$$. That gives them an extra "bite" out of your wallet before the "big" 60K mile service. (Whoever at LR came up with this "Service Engine" con game should be taken out and kneecapped). Otherwise, like the man said, just follow the directions on this board to turn it off. If the O2 sensor is the problem, the amber "Check Engine" light should activate, but as memory serves, the O2 sensors don't get replaced on schedule until 87,500 mi. |

my check engine light came on and I tried to reset it but the rod I used must have been too thick or went in at an angle.anyway light stayed on and something was rattling in the relay.took it apart and put the two bent prongs together and light went out.is this allright or will I have a problem, should I change it? |
