My "LAND ROVER" decals on my hood are in bad shape, so I have ordered some new ones. I don't know how to get the old ones off without damaging the finish, though...

anyone got any ideas?

Try warming them with an electric hair dryer. After warming up the area around it, you can easilypull them off

put the new one over the old one.. that way it goes on straight. its easiest if you get the D2 raised letter decal. thats what I did, it took 10 miutes and it looks perfect.

I don't know if these are the ones you got or not but Rover Connection has raised ones that would probablly look a lot better than the originals.

I own a vehicle graphic shop,
the rover paint is great for removing decals and getting scratches out
use a hair dryer to heat it up and pick them off with your fingers,
beleave it or not we just use "scratch out" to compund out the spot where the old sticker was so you dont see the faded spot under the letters.
use Denatured Alcohol "SLX" to prep the area and reapply the sticker according to their directions

heres a shot of the raised letter one, it looks just like the orginal sticker but it wont wear out over time.

Thanks guys,
I got the raised letters, and was considering putting them over the old ones, but the old ones are all chipped and ragged around the edges, so it probably would be better to take the off.

Thanks again for the help.

marc, my original decal was shot, all sorts of ragged and chiped. do it over the old one letter by letter, not all at once. Im tellin ya man, its the easiest way to do it. good luck

The hair dryer bit works really well when I've used it. If you wanna mark where the original stickers were at so you can put the new ones where the old ones were, two ideas come to mind;

1. Use a grease pencil

2. Masking Tape... if you're worried about it being to sticky, you can stick it to something else before sticking it to the paint. I use my pant leg.

You could mark the stickers like a 1/4 inch off if you're worried about the marks getting messed up by the removal proceedure.

Don't forget the dental floss. Dental floss is great at removing LR decals.

its a saudi arabian disco 1 grill. youll also see it refered to as a "gulf states grill" Its only $60 from Northeast British parts. I figured for only 60 bones I had to give it a whirl. you can find them here:

www.northeastbritishparts.com

it defintely looks different then every other Disco I pass..(theres alot of discos in connecticut).. and from what I hear it also increases traction :)

oh man.. what a riot.. I give up. Blue, that is by far the epitomy of cool.. not only does your tire say "bigfoot", but it says in WHITE!! how perfect! Im having my tires spun around as I type! I too want to join the white writing gang!!
unfortunately my tire is enscralled with the word "enforcer" which if I recall correctly makes me "white trash".. lol :)

unfortunately my reign of white power has come to an end. I had my tires spun around on the rims to get some wear on the inside shoulder lugs. Garrett has taken up the cause in my absence.

Yeah, I want to get that crappy "Land Rover" decal off the hood of my Disco. Anybody know where I can get a good "Jeep Grand Cherokee" decal to put on instead?

C'mon Norm, you know we don't use that kind of language on this board. That should read "J**p" not so "Grand Cherokee". Anyway, "JGC's" are to ashamed to put there name on the hood of there 4xfailures. LOL :)

Hey Gil, did you have to paint that grill? I can't tell from the photo (I need glasses). Also, is it hard to install it? I like the looks and may order one myself.

I didnt paint mine as i wasnt sure if it was going to be a permanent fixture. Its not hard to install, if i can do it by myself, then anyone can do it... even garrett. :)

i am not sure about that. i would have the tendency to want to paint white letters on it.
i am only capable of installing Krager 6X9 speakers in the back of my truck anyhow.......grills are out of my league!!
