I am considering fitting a snorkel to my 96 diesel disco.
is there any truth in the snorkel manufacturers claims of improved engine performance and efficency?

It's true. I just put on an ARB a week ago. Much more pep also noticable improvement when towing. I haven't checked my milage yet.

Neal,

Why did you choose the ARB over a Safari or did you compare the two? I'm just curious on whether one seemed like a much better component than the other?

I've been wanting the ARB for some time now meself.

Eric-
If I'm not mistaken, ARB imports the Safari Snorkel. I think they are them same manufacturer...
Anyone?

ARB, Safari Snorkel, OME, IPF, Kaymar, and even the freezers are all seperate companies. They just have a really close business relationship.

I choose the ARB/Safari Snorkel based on some of the thread I read here. The ARB is less money, looks better (my opinion) and is seasier to install. I went in real deep yesterday. It worked very well.

I have a 97 300tdi with Safari Snork. Been on for about 18months now. Lots of good reasons for having it but not increased performance. No noticeable change in performance in my opinion... but been very pleased with it and wouldn't have a diesel without it.

I should add, I also put on Flowmasters a few weeks befor adding the snorkel. I did notice a performance increase, but perhaps the mufflers contributed.
