i forgot to add these things to my current dillema... i recently had to unplug the battery from my Disco and when i replaced it, it screwed up my rear view mirror any way that can still be salvaged without having to spend another 230 for a new one? another thing was my ABS light, i saw the post from an earlier thread can anyone shed light on that? it only came on after i had to replace the Brake switch.

well, the reason why the battery was unplugged was we thought that would reset the service engine light... didn't work instead it screwed the rear view mirror.
for the ABS light... i think i might have tripped it when i replaced the brake switch.

i have one of those auto dimming rear view mirrors not sure if unplugging the battery had anything to do with it but that's when i first noticed what i think is liquid half way across the mirror i'll take a picture of it and post it when i get home. i looked at the 'Rover Connection' site and it's about 235 for the replacement.

be extremely careful. The liquid you mention is extremely caustic to your dash and can do some damage, I'm sure other people have had experiences with that. Your mirror is crapped out. I would recommend replacing it as quickly as possible to avoid any of that stuff leaking out.

I don't think it has anything to do with the battery being unplugged. To get rid of the service light, look in the tech section - you'll find it there.

The SRS light needs to reset by the dealer. When you pull the battery it goes into a fault mode that is telling you it lost power. So the way you fix it is with a dealer clearing it, I don't think you'll find any shop who can do it for you other than the dealer. You'll need a testbook to do it.

Will an OBD-II scan tool clear it?

Andy, I must have missed his comment about SRS (Only see ABS). But what's this about pulling the battery and the SRS goes into fault?

Wes, Some OBDII scan tools can reset the stored codes and extinguish the SES light.

Oh crap, I put my reply in the wrong thread ... lol. I'm glad it's the weekend ...

Off topic, that's what happens when you pull the battery, the srs light comes on and needs to be reset.

SRS light will come on if you put the key in position II while the battery is disconnected I believe.

Mine certainly doesn't come on when I've disconnected mine, but I was careful to not go past Position 1

D2 (01) UK spec so may not apply to others
