the rails are out of alignment...this is not an uncommon problem with the somwhat "weak" design of the disco guide rails. sometimes, the dealership was able to adjust mine, but eventually, the assembly had to be replaced (under warranty!) there is a tech writeup on replacing the rails in (of all places) the tech section...

best wishes...

mike

bienvenue...;)

i will be no help on cost, though...it was blanked out on my repair ticket...

the tech article makes replacement look pretty straight forward though, so you will save a bundle on labor...!

good luck

My rear sunroof is toast, now my front sunroof struggles to close. My passenger side window regulator died and my A/C system wont hold a charge and no one can find the leak. Me thinks my disco is trying to roast me.

The best solution that I can think of to fix my sunroofs is to get one of those phatty low profile roof racks! Now all I have to do is convince the wife that $700 is better spent on a rack than fixing the a/c & sunroofs!

I hope the heater holds out thru the winter.

mikeyb, i believe that was 1-OH-9 in DFW area. eric, don't bother to replace the sunroofs, buy the roof rack, it's a better investment than the sunroofs. you would be repairing them again in a year anyway. shut them, make sure they seal, disconnect the switch and mount the rack. tell your wife you are saving money over the long term?

My front sunroof needs a little push by finger to open. You need to remove the whole headliner to repair the rail. And it will cost you an arm and a leg to fix at the dealer. Disco sunroof rails sucks. Just shut it forever.

ahah i wish i could get mine shut all the way ,its still got a small gap in it. When it rains hard its not a pretty site cause im driving with my left hand and with my right taking a towl and wipping the console and the side of the seats off. Ive used almost enough force to break the thing trying to get it shut. Do you know how i could kinda just release the tention on it and make it close completely.

the small, rectangular cover that is just near the controls...pry it off and there is an allen bolt there. it is the manual closing point for the roof. you might try giving it a twist with a wrench and see if you can get it closed all the way.

good luck

I called a while back to the Land Rover dealer. They quoted $560.00 to fix the rear rails. The part is only $90.00. The rest is labor. They said it was a real pain to fix. I put $2.50 worth of caulk on it.....all fixed.
