5 speed, 96 Disco. Was on the highway the other day and had my hand resting on the console over the power window switches. I noticed it was very hot. I immediately started thinking electrical problem. However, everything is working fine, no smell or smoke. It was hotter than a popcorn fart and I was travelling for approx. 1 hour. Is this normal? I would have thought the console would be better insulated from the heat thrown from the drivetrain. Not sure if this just started or if I have only just noticed it. Any comments? |

If you think the console gets warm, try driving for almost 18 hours straight with just "pit stops" and see how warm the foot boxes get. With those cats sitting right in front of your feet, it makes cruise a real necessity. |

Thanks for putting my mind at ease boys. My rig has been running far too good for far too long. I thought this console thing was going to be the "TSN Turning Point". PS. A popcorn fart is....Kingsford briquette, burnt sun, Halle Berry, hell HOT! |

Happens on the Automatics too! I'm sure I will welcome the warmth in the winter but it gets pretty hot during the summer. |
