For about the past two weeks, whenever I go around a right-hand corner, at about the apex of the corner there is a distinct "clonk" noise that appears to be coming from the front right hand corner of the car. I have got one-year-old H/D springs and de Carbon shocks all round (including steering damper) and I put new Red Polybushes on a couple of months ago with all new nuts & bolts. I can't find anything loose, although I've not got up on a four poster yet. Has anyone had a similar problem? Thanks Alan |

Hi Alan I have this prob too, not all the time though but only on right hand turns,I have a 2" lift and just put it down to this, but off road it seems as though something is loose up front, I have checked everything, and can find nothing wrong. I am opening my front axle this weekend in order to change a leaking seal, so will have a good look at that when I am in there. Let me know if you find anything. Pete S |

Thanks Pete, At least I know I'm not the only one, a problem shared is a problem halved and all that. I'll let you know if I find anything when I get her up in the air, hopefully next week. Alan |

Hello Alan I had the same problem on my 98, stock springs w/ bilstein's. Both the left and right side but only when my suspension was wet. Took it to the dealer for warranty work and a good portion of the bolts for my suspension were not tightened correctly. Not sure if that will help any? Regards, Rian |

I had a problem like this as well it developed about a month after installing OMEhd's. all the info pointed me to the panhard rod, so i replaced the bushings in it. still had the noise. I then replaced all the bushings with poly. still had the noise so I disconected the front shocks and had a freind bounce and shake the shit out of the truck! and i was able to duplicate the sound traced it to a loose motor mount nut, mount to frame. it seems the engine was shifting and the stud would pop in and out of the mount on the frame causing a loud clonk that i would have sworn was suspension because it only happened under a hard turn or when i was 4wheelin but nope! loose motor mount. all better now very easy to overlook. |

Thanks for all your advice, although my clonking investigations will have to wait until I've sorted the clutch out - it went bang last night. (why did it have to happen in MY time, not at work?) Still, at least the source of that noise was easy to identify. I'll get back to you when I have something to report. |

I too have had the same problem with my 03 SE. (stock) it started out by only clunking on right turns then started doing it on left turns too. I made sure everything was tight in the suspension but it was still there, so I took it to the dealer, and they couldn't figure it out either, I took it offroad a few days later, and then it was gone and haven't heard it since then....just go beat the shit out of her and maybe she'll work out her problems that way?? |

Check your steering joints sometimes they are loose or worn out and they need replacing. I have the same problem with the clonk when turning hard right, I will be replacing mine next month, I will post my results. |

Hmmm...well you have some options above. However, I would try putting a lot of torque on the radius arm bolts. If this does not solve it, I would look at the springs. One may be unseating slightly and than popping back in. Try turning them 1/3 of a turn if the radius arm solution does not work. Good luck, Curtis |

Dear All, Once again, thanks for all your suggestions, however, it turns out that is was my bloody exhaust pipe banging against the side of the chassis, at the back! A friend of mine who was an army mechanic (ie worked on almost nothing but Land Rovers for fifteen years) drove it and sussed it out imediatly. Apparently, if you can hear a clonk at the front, it will almost always be caused by something at the back, and vice-versa. At least I'm sure all of my bushes and steering arm joints are good! |
