My oil light came on and shortly after this the Check Engine light came on. No noise and the truck is running fine. My local mechanic is replacing the oil pressure switch. If a good oil pressure reading is established will the Check Engine light go out? What other readings will trigger this light?

Thanks

Check this out, http://www.fourfold.org/LR_FAQ/RR/FAQ.Engines.Fault.Codes.html, which is in the tech section. Profile says you have a 95 so this would apply to you.

Dang it! I replaced the oil pressure switch and the oil light went out but the check engine light remained on. Do you have to get this reset by the dealer?

Disconnect the battery overnight (I think some say an hour will do), check engine light should be gone in the morning. -providing there aren't any other issues with your truck. Goodluck!

Another way of clearing a code goes like this, with the key in the on position, on the passenger side under the glove box, there is a white connector, disconnect for about 5-10 seconds, reconnect, switch ignition to the off position, wait for relay to click, turn ignition to on position and check LCD readout under seat, if there is another code, it will appear, if not display will be blank. Hope this helps.
