OK....So only one direction was not working on my electric seat control for the passenger side. But after a few beers out in the desert this weekend, I decided to "TRY" to take it apart and fix it. Make a long story short....I lost about 3 ball bearings, fried a spring and started a small fire......it's FRIED.

Question is....how much would one of those entire units cost for a 98 Disco I from the stealership. And secondly, is there a fuse or two for those electric seat controls somewhere?? I took off the driver's side control and tried to use THAT one to move my paasenger seat back, but NOTHING worked at all so I put back the control on the driver's side so I didn't jack THAT one up too.

Lesson is, don't repair small electrical components in the desert sun after 3 hours of off-roading with several beers in your system.

LOL. Funny story Joe. What would have happened if you had finished a six pack? Maybe a small engine overhaul while laying around in the desert sun. Are you sure you weren't on Peyote :)

Joe, it should have worked when you put the control from one side to the other (BTDT) - not sure if there are any fuses for the seats other than the fusepanel - maybe under the seats, or in the drivers kick panel? Did you check the underhood fuse panel?

BTW - try Nathan for the switch....

Joe, if the control is anything like the RR one then I can tell you where to get it brand new for under $70.

John,

Let me here it!! Under $70 bucks sounds good to me. I have seen in here before that the switch is almost identical to ones found in Mercedes. You actually see the Mercedes symbol on the switches that come from within the center console that plug into the conrtol unit.

Does anyone know for sure if the RR ones are similar to the Disco's?? Maybe wherever you get yours, I can get mine for the same price.

Joe,

I have one that works perfectly when it comes to switching (is a Disco I part). The only problem is the little tabs which hold it in place are broken. I spent the big bucks to replace it, and then the tabs on that one broke, too. I put a little dot of superglue on each corner on the one installed in my truck and it holds on fine, which the capability to remove it if required.

$35+ shipping and it's yours. Drop me an email if you are interested. Click on my name for email address.

Joe, That was funny shit! Thanks for sharing your "Yahoo" moment with us! We all have "Yahoo" moments!!! This story would be nice if you wound up getting hooked up by Tom, as it sounds like you have. Good Luck, Tom sounds like a cool muthafucka for bailing you out like this! Good work Tom!

$35 bucks? Yeah, that's a decent deal. Why not go for it. I think we should all close our eyes, bow our heads, and raise our beer glasses for the creation and existance of 'DiscoWeb.'

Look forward to doing a bit of business with you Tom. I emailed Nathan earlier, but I guess he's busy or bogged down with other orders....never heard from him as of yet. No doubt he does mass business so I'm sure he's quite busy.

Anonymous,

Thanks for the comparison shopping opportunity! Obviously, Tom's switch is a decent deal. The Rover stealership here wants $120 for it too. I just hope it gets here functioning. During college, I worked for a shipping comapny so I saw how packages are TRULY handled behind the scenes.

Tom, pack that puppy with a ton of bubble tape. Just don't use old underwear. (kidding)

well, thanks anyway Tom. So close yet so far away. Actually, Dee, an associate of Nathan, lives down the road from me...literally! I'll get hooked up this week. Not nearly as good a deal as yours was, but better than the stealership. I don't care if it were MORE that the stealership, as long as I don't have to go to them!
