I have a 2003 disco. I was looking at my rear fender flares the other day and they seem to be fading from the top down. They even feel kind of rough on top. Has this happened to anyone else? Do you think LR will take care of it? or Is there anything I can do? Thanks, Hill |

Mine are faded as well... I figured the previous owner was overzealous with the electric buffer. Mine is no longer under warranty so I will likely spray it with some wrinkle paint finish after some light sanding. I'm curious to know how typical this problem is. -justin |

There are other threads about fading plastic. I haven't done it yet but "Forever Black" has been suggested as a remedy. FWIW, my 96 D1 has a very faded appearance but my 99 D1 has a nice black color to it. If I owned a brand new vehicle under warranty, I'd bring it up with your LR service people and see what they say. It doesn't hurt to ask. |

I tried a Mothers product called Back to Black. Did a real quick application on my wife's D2 and can't say it worked miracles, but helped some. Maybe with a good dose it would work but I'm sure for only a while. |

I tried Back to Black several times long ago. It looks great at first, but after about a week it changes to a light, light, ash-looking gray. The more you apply and buff in, the longer it will stay black, maybe 2-3 weeks tops. I think it was a waste of money, which also might explain why most of the auto part stores I went to had never even heard of it. Just my own experience. |

Try the Forever Black product sold by Atlantic British. I have used it successfully on my D1 bumper end caps. Thanks, Mike B. |

I haven't tried it yet Bill. Week after next I will take my fenders off and spray them. I believe Plastikote makes the best wrinkle finish paint. I'm sure a regular outdoor spray paint would work as well, however I don't want a shiny or smooth finish on mine. I'll post when I'm done. -justin |

I have the same problem I think it is caused by wax. It seems to be only in the spots that I got in contact with wax |

I've used flat black Krylon paint, and it done really well to restore the faded plastic back to original. I did this a few years back and it still looks new. |

Yes, try to just paint it with a flat black paint, I did it on mine a year ago and they look really good. Try it on the underside or on a part that is not noticeable first, see if you like it, if you don't just buy knew ones!!! |
