Hi

After my last dealer visit the transmission is having issues. If the truck has been sitting for a couple of days and I put the truck in D immediately after startup, the truck doesn't move. If I let it run for 30sec before I put it in D it is fine... I guess the Torque converter is low on oil or... Any thoughts, can I check the level myself?

Thanks
Carl

Carl, did you ever have the A/C condensation line recall done? Basically, the A/C condensation line was placed too near the tranny breather hose, and some water could get into the tranny. It's a simple fix by rerouting the A/C line. If this was never done (factory recall) you may have some contaminated tranny fluid causing this. Just a guess.

Hi Greg

You know I'm not sure, my engine compartment is littered with those recall stickers, so it might be done..:) Would you know where I can get a list of the recalls and the corresponding numbers?

Thanks
Carl

My Disco II also does this in R and D. The recall has been done.

Carl, unfortunately I have no idea where to get that info. Perhaps your dealer can supply them?

Carl,

I have had my D1 for 7 years now and it has always done this. I always assumed that the viscosity of the oil, when cold, meant that I had to give it time to spread.

My D1 also did the same thing. It was bad enough that after I returned from a month long trip, I got in the Disco, placed it in drive and hit the gas. To my surprise, I rolled backward about two feet down the driveway into the hood of my car before I accelerated forward! Needless to say I had over $2,000 damage on the car (my hitch went through the grill and fan) and LR could never find the problem. My D2 has not done this...yet.
