VERY VERY annoying!!!! In the thick desert sand, if you so much as tap the brakes and slide an inch, the ABS kicks in and you get that grinding, pulsing ABS feeling. Just creeps me out!!! Feels like the brakes are dead or falling off, like I'm doing some damage. I drove my buddy's 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee and HIS ABS didn't do that at all.....even when I slammed the brakes on in thick sand!! Can you remove the fuse to the ABS so you have "normal" feeling breaks in the sand and then just replace it for on-road life again WITHOUT confusing and jacking up the truck's mind??? |

SocalJoe: D1 or D2? If D2 then goto dealer, get SLABS recall, is a godsend, like a different car. Sorry, I was coding earlier today... |

It's a D1...1998. I was told this brake sensation was "normal" for ABS activation. |

Joe, EXACTLY my feeling. Disable the damn thing when you go off road by pulling the fuse (under the steering column). THe light will come on, and will stay on until you put the fuse back (if it didn't stay on the highway before) peter |
