Yes it does. Make sure the button by the clock is pushed. Set speed fron the steering wheel. If this doesnt work you probably have a leak in the little hose by the brake switch. Grab hold of your brake peddle and work your way up you will see the little hose. Cut the end off and replace if it is worn or has holes. Good luck

Hi Furgie,
I have a 98 as well. My cruise has just started to act up. I have heard some people say that they have had problems also but I have never paid attention to what it was. My timing couldn't be worse though. I'm getting my Disco ready to trailer my bike up to Milwaukee for the 100th Harley celebration. That will be about 2800 miles, so I hope I can get it to work properly.
And yes guys, I said I was trailering my bike. There is a first. But I don't think my back can take 3000+ miles on the bike anymore.

What is up with people hording their owners manual and then selling them on ebay? None of the Discos I looked at had a manual :-) They are all on ebay! The dealer wanted $50 for a new one!

If the manual is not original, then it is illegal to sell them. Copyright infringement. I've bought stuff on ebay that was advertised as original and turned out to be copies (VHS).

Then again, you might not care as long as you have a manual.

IMHO I think it is better to get a Workshop manual.

I purchased the manual for my 95 DI from dealer for $32. Guess what? they gave me a 1997 DI and said:"It's same!". God bless those people!

Most common place for cracks in the vacuum tubing is in the engine compartment. There is a tee fitting that is the location of most of the problems: it connects the throttlebody hose, the brake line hose and the vacuum pump hose. Also be sure to check the throttlebody for vacuum retention from time to time: they are rubber and will crack too.

CONGRATULATIONS!!

I agree with the mental health -- you are about to have more FUN than you ever thought possible! Along with the fun comes something that no one has been able to put a name with. As in what is this land rover disease that I have caught from the rest of you?? I was sitting outside a shop today taking a break from some work being done on my rover - covered in grime (me), I sat there wondering what is wrong with me? Am I insane? Then, I thought of all the beautiful awesome places I have seen in my rover and I thought no, I'm not insane -- it's all worth it.

If you don't want whatever land rover disease is, maybe you should sell it right away or perhaps never go off road -- then you'll never know what you are missing and might remain content on the streets? As in ignorance is bliss?

I have the workshop manual and would highly recommend it if you KNOW what the different parts to a land vehicle are and have a vague idea of where they are located in your vehicle.

My workshop manual does not have an index in the back - so I have to spend hours looking at diagrams trying to put a name to a part and then ask questions about it. So far, I have not been able to comprehend anything in the workshop manual.

Someone told me there was some kind of CD, (it had an unusual name?), and that it has everything about rovers on it AND an index. Maybe the techs know about it?

In my opinion, Dweb is the best way to find out about your rover. Plus, everyone is very patient with you when you have trouble understanding things! :-) :-) :-)

if the cruise loses speed or will not engage, it is an inexpensive and easy fix. every time there is a cc problem i have found the cc vacuum hoses are the culprit on older trucks like yours; dried up and cracked they all need replaced from inside the cab (connected to a switch mounted on the brake column) through the firewall into the engine compartment including all the hoses connected to the "T". i have never experienced faulty electronics on the cruise, only the vacuum system.

If you get the thing working don't expect much from it, my unit seems to engage only when the car is cold, after one hour of constant drive my unit will not engage or will engage only for a few seconds???

to jamie, yes there are cd`s with all the manuals and service instructions parts lists etc. available , and yes they are copies not originals on ebay, i bought them and they are great just click on the exploded view and it gives you part #`s etc also the service manuals explain how to dismantle and replace check and test just about ecery thing. the discs are called the "rave" and "microcat" people advertise them on ebay all the time well worth the £10 i paid.
