the rig generally starts with no problem. especially cold starts, but occasionally lately has had to take a few minutes to crank over. i have to give it a little gas to start. this doesn't happen every time only about once every other day. any suggestions. thanks in advance for the help. |

Oh man, I have a 95 and I am experiencing the same problem right now...I thought it might be weather related (I'm in New England and its been very humid). over the last 2-3 weeks, takes about a minute to start and only with a little gas. Fuel pump? Fuel rail? What? Thanks everyone! |

it's been humid here and rainy. maybe alot of moisture in the air. also i ran the fuel down to the light came on, but not out of gas so i'm also considering if setiment from the fuel tank got clogged in the fuel filter. |

You might check the security system. If you're not getting any spark, it may be that the securiy system has malfunctioned and deactivated your ignition. Next time your truck fails to start, try to open and close the truck up in rapid succession with the key fob, or you can do the same with the key in the driver's door. If it's the security system, that should set things right, at least temporarily. The long term fix is to have the dealer reprogram your security system. ---Norm '95 D1 5-speed, 4.6 |

when was the last time you replace your cap and rotor... my 95 has this really bad habit... when the cap and rotor are going bad... it wont start... pop the hood... jiggle the cap a little then Fires right up... the problem gets progressively worse... from wont start every so often.. to wont start every single time... thats when i know its time to replace the cap and rotor.. do that and Bingo.. fires up every time at least for a few months KEN |
