Does anyone know of there being a problem putting 245/70/16 tires on a Discovery with stock springs and Bilstein shocks. It would be in a Bf-goodrich all terrain tire, so not all that nobby. I do not want to trim, but do not want to rub. I will not be using this vehicle for extreme off roading. Someone said that the 245/75/16 tires might rub under maximum articulation, but I have not heard about the 245/70/16 rubbing. Disco web has a tire page that say 245/70/16 tires "reportedly"could be put on without rubbing or having to lift the vehicle or trim. I just thought maybe someone had some experience with this. Thanks |

Not to be too pessimistic, but I will be anyway. If you are not willing to trim your fenders, I do not suggest you change tire configuration. I tried to not trim and ended up doing it immediately upon returning from the tire shop. It is not hard nor does it detrimentally affect the appearance of the truck. If you do not know exactly what you are looking at, you would not know my truck has been trimmed. Do not fear the trim! Paul |

I can only second what Paul said. If you didn't know where to look, you'd never see the trim. This is the same size I run with, 'cept in the TracEdge pattern. I spent about 20 or 30 minuts with a Dremel tool to trim a lip or edge inside the rear wheel well. The front still rubs the frame on extreme articulation, but I could turn the wheelstops out a turn or two if I wasn't so lazy.... On another note, has anyone discovered exactly why BFG discontinued the TracEdge? |

offrovn I've had 245/70/16 Dunlops on my Disco series 1 since I bought it (used). They stuff without hitting the fenders. Now, the Dunlops I have are a street tire--no knobs at all, but, you should be fine if you use stock wheels. This size is only marginally bigger than stock. Good luck with the BFGs; they'll be brilliant. |

I ran 245/70/16 on stock setup with a very minimal rear passenger fender rub on full-tilt articulation. You'll be fine. Just do it. |

No problem. I've had Dunlop A/Ts 245/70/16 on stock set up for 50,000 miles. No rubbing. |

I have 245/70 Cooper ATs and they do absolutely fine, but of course I am looking into a suspension lift because I am not getting enought articulation.....But yeah 245/70 do not require any adjustments at all....Go for it..... Ps. you cant do any extreme offroading on 245/70.... |

I skipped to the end of this thread, but I have a 95 disco with 245/70 and have been through the VA mountains to Moab several times and I have never had my BFG AT EVER rub! Take it for what it's worth. |

I have 245/75/16 on my 96 discovery. They are a bit wider than you are looking at. They only rub under extreme articulation. And if you leave it long enough the fenders just bend and you dont notice it anymore.hehehe Yes they will be fine, do it. |
