96-Disco. I looked at the archive and could not find anything. The SRS light just came one. It starts by flashing and then stays on. All looks and feel normal. Did some wheeling over the weekend in a very dusty area. Any advise? Thank you in advance |

I think the SRS light has to be reset at the dealer. The flashing is normal to get your attention, after 5 minutes the light will stay lit if there is a fault detected. |

I has a problem with my SRS on my 95 disco, the dealer had to reset it, they were really hesitant to tell me the all the details. All they really told me is that the system had a fault and that it needed to be fixed!!!! You can in the mean time ask the dealership if you can remove the SRS fuse, you don't want the posibility of the airbags deploying when your driving that would be a very bad thing. |

Thank you for your input. -Do you how to reset the SRS light? -When/if removing the fuse, is there anything else to be aware for (besides preventing a head on collision)?

All I can tell you is that they had my rig for two days and the dealer told me they had to remove the harness and fix something in there??? As for the fuse talk to the dealer before removing it, in case you notice the fuse is surrounded by a yellow cover so there's got to be something special about this fuse???? |

to my surprise and a very cost effective solution, I decided to remove the SRS fuse.... the existing fuse is blown. Replace it with a 10 amps and problem solved. I am keeping my fingers cross hoping this is a long and final remedy. |

So did the light go out on its own after you replaced the fuse? My SRS light has been on for a while (2 years) and I never checked the fuse. Will check in the morning, I should be so lucky. Now if I could do the same for the ABS light! |

Tony, I disconnected the battery for about 3.5 hours and the light was gone. To simplify things, the fuse in located, driver side and surrounded by a yellow plastic thingy (at least in the 96 Disco). Try the fuse for the ABS also. |

ive got a 95 DI... my SRS lights been on for YEARS. i was told by a "certified mechanic" that as long as there is nothing physically wrong with the system (mine went off after debugging a totally different problem.. the SRS light just came on for no reason), the bags should still deploy and that the ONLY way to stop the light is to have it reset at the dealership... AKA $$ disconnecting the battery for a week and a half during a recent maintenence job didnt reset mine so i dont think that will work BTW do you still have that bumper for sale? KEN |

There was a recall on 95s (maybe other years) for a wiring short affecting the airbag circuit and causing unexpected deployment..... Guess I was lucky it never deployed but dealer blew dozens of fuses during the recall work.... |
