What does it take to put a new shell on a disco? is it a HHHHUUUUGGE project you cant tackle at home? I have time, and did a jeep tub once, but this is obviously gonna be mucho harder. anyone? |

check out Strange Rover's truck over at the land rover forum on pirate4x4.com. He put a series body on a Range Rover chassis. Tom |

I understood this to be a new Disco tub onto a Disco chassis. I imagined replacing a body onto a rolled donor...might as well try to build your very own space shuttle. If your ?? is a Series body tub onto a DI tub, just a whole heck'a lotta' work. Just forget it, buy a Series project and pass on the mutt. |

Having done several body swaps on similar sized cars with frames in my hot-rodding days, I can tell you that it is doable, but it is not an easy or a weekend task. You will need sufficient lift capability and space to R&R the bodies and there is also the interior to deal with: are you swapping that out too? That will take almost as much time as the body swap. One last caveat; make sure that the frame on the rollover is straight before you do the swap...prior experience...lol |

Jake hit it right on another bit of advice get a digital camera and snap shots of every evloution 3 to 4 months of a project the brain becomes fuzzy. Also bag and tag all the harware... Sound like a fun project. I want to do a frame off V8 coil over upgrade to a MOD 109 someday |

great tip Dee! it really wouldent be that hard josh, based on the fact you wont struggle with any rusted bolts on that new rig you may need to cut it off in a few spots if the damage is bad enough. the interior will be the long part.things like headliners and carpet take a long time finding a late model stripped theft recovery would be the place to start looking for the complete body your gonna need I say go for it! |

just to add to the digital camera deal and to brag more about my racing days....between races i would strip and rebuild my ducati racebike and each time i would use a 35 mm camera to document each step. it saved my butt many times. it was helpful from the smallest rebulds (mikiuni carbs) to major engine overhaul. FWIW. mike w |

If you have the parts book, the manual, and a good knowledge of wiring and had identical year trucks it is possible. I can get one off real quick (a day) but swapping everything over and making it work . . . Dee. What you need is the parts book. Digicam shots are nice but it is all about the parts book and labeling as you said. Oh , buy a lot of seam sealer Ron |

my question is where are you getting a new disco tub?? if you have that i assume that it's on a straight frame,, how often do you mangle the frame and keep the body straight? anyway.. pobably more economical and less time consuming to fix up the "tub " ride. unless i am missing a bigger picture. you can always buy my disco... rd |
