Anyone ever heard a noise coming from the back wheels (or just the back end), when the brakes are applied that sounds like birds chirping or a squeaking (i.e. like the springs on a bed in a cheep motel). It's in a DII'01 with only 4000 miles.

do you see any feathers stuck in the wheels?

No. Nor are there any small mammals stuck under the hood. I'm pretty earth friendly. i.e. Save the mammals, shoot your mother-in law. But the squeaking is driving me nuts when I before I come to a stop.

my brakes squeal off and on all the time. i forgot to slap some anti squeal on them last time i replaced them. bad garrett! can be pretty common for squeaking.......but bird sounds?

may want to get a "if this trucks a rockin'....don't come a knockin'" sticker for the back. just in case you are not telling us the truth.

:)

Perhaps bird sounds are not the right way to describe the sounds. It's definitely not a typical break squeal. Especially with all of 4000 miles on the truck. It occurs when you're coming to a stop and the truck is sort of swaying side to side on uneven ground.

Garret,
I assure you if it was a "rock'n" from some "boot knock'n" I would know it was the HD springs.

Maybe the bag of dead squirrels stopping the roof rack noise isn't full of dead squirrels.

Go ahead and pull off the rear wheels. I'm sure the problem will be self-evident once you are in there. Most probably a rock wedged in there or something similar.
