would I have to get new gears if I go to a 265/75 or 235/85, would I brake an axel with the stock gears while I'm 4-wheeling

If you're driving a D2 the 265's should be okay stock.

that's what I have now and the lift just makes the 245's small it looks a little goofy.

Hi Peter
The axles are the same as a defender and so will run the bigger size OK.
What may happen though is the truck may feel sluggish, good for highway cruising though!
Best bet is to change the high range gears in the transfer box for ones from a defender, and don`t forget your speedo will be out.

I've got 235/85s on my OME HD 96. It's a little slower now, than it was. Doesn't bother me. I'm sure it would be quicker with different gearing, but until I have another reason to replace the gears, I'm leaving it the way it is.
