When you change O2 sensers, can you upgrade? Are some better than other, or are they just the same? thanks |

How much are the o2 sensors from Nathan ? My local specialist wants £125 / side ($190-ish) If they're cheaper, does he ship to the UK ? ! Matt. |

Loads cheaper ! Final 2 questions about the 02 sensors.... 1. What's the easiest way to remove them without the luxury of a ramp. I tried from on top, but not enough access. will there be enough room for me to crawl underneath and remove them from there ? 2. My car is using way to much fuel. I changed the plugs recently then they were all carboned up (both banks) Does each O2 sensor affect the fueling for it's own bank individually, or does the ECU average them out ? Matt. |

Here's the correct link. www.automedicsupply.com http://occp1.ocservers.net/~automedi/catalog5.php (this is for a 97, but a 96 4.0 would be the same) |

Matt, Get yourself some axle stands. You should be able to get a pair for $20-30. You'll use them for as long as you own your truck. As for running rich, when the 02 sensor fail, the cause the motor to fun full rich. That's why your plugs are all fouled. I don't believe the o2 sensors cannot control their own bank -P |

That automedic O2 sensor was for a Rover up to 1997. Do they have sensors for 1998? When you attempt to use their pull down menu to select your vehicle, it doesn't give you the option for choosing a Land Rover. So how do you locate a Disco sensor?? |

Try www.carparts.com and follow through for your truck. I got my O2 sensors today for my 95 Disco at $36.00 each. They need to be crimped in using the existing connector (kind of a universal O2 sensor), but I don't mind-I'm saving lots of $$$. I'm putting them in on Monday. |

Paul L - where exactly did you source the sensors at 36 each? peter |

There's a lot of confusion about O2 sensors. Basically, there are two types, both made by NTK Technical Ceramics. Vehicles through the '95 model year (the 3.5 and 3.9) will use the three wire sensor. Later vehicles with OBD-II systems will use the four wire heated titania sensor. The two are not interchangeable. The Nissan crossovers sometimes mentioned are also made by NTK, the only difference being the terminal plug. If you are going to use one of these cheaper (as in less expensive than Discount Rovers/Nathan) alternatives, you better be a real good solderer of micro-fine wire. I'll wager you'll have way more than $30 worth of time/aggravation buying any of the cheaper alternatives. Save yourself the headache and hassle and buy from Nathan. He buys then straight from NTK, but a hundred at a time.... |

when an O2 sensor on a 96 DI goes bad does the check engine light come on or do symptoms start to develop? |

SOCALJOE - see my first post - choose Rover and then RR in the pull down menu. BTW - 97 and 98 are same - 4 wire titania sensors Bill |

PM, for my 95 Disco, on Carparts.com, the stock number is SG36 and they were $38.51, not 36. |

Paul, When you say the Universal O2 sensor needs to be "crimped", is this obvious when looking at the sensor, and do I need any special tools for crimping? |

Brian, I think Paul meant crimping wires between a generic sensor and LR-specific connector. I would solder and shrink-wrap them rather than crimping. This is not micro-fine wire as SG called it, and doesn't take PhD in soldering to get it done. peter |
