My son left my parking brake on during an approximate 10 mile expressway trip. He was driving and I was the passenger. Unfortunately, I did not notice until we stopped and I smelled a bad odor. I vaguely recognize the odor as brake lining, but I am not sure. The truck seems to be running fine and the odor seems to have dissipated. Any advice on what I should check (transmission fluid, etc.) after this adventure would be greatly appreciated. Please... no son bashing, I really do love him. |

Most likely all you will have done is worn your e-brake shoes down. Not great but I'd be surprised if this happening a few times did any damage. I know I've done it before. The real concern is that he did not notice the e-brake light on the dash (I assume there is one). If he didn't notice that light, what other lights will he ignore? Last thing you need is for the truck to come home on a wrecker and have him say "But I thought the oil light would flash or get brighter if something was wrong" ;-) |

I bet this is the same woman with the son that left the sunroof open. She seems defensive about bashing her son.....again. AAAHHH....kids........when will they learn. Chalk it up as a lesson learned. Just beat him sensless like a dog if he repeats it. |
