Trying to covert the seven pin (D1) to a flat four. Found the running lights, ground and signals, but the brakes are both one wire by itself. Can I split it and run each end with the turn signals.Or will I smoke somthing? If not then how?
Thanks
Mike

this $17 uhaul un it is not a good idea

you need to use the unit that has a seperate power source(one more wire only)

todays trailers have more and more lights on them, all those lights cause amp draws in excess of what LR intended the wires to take. Add in some water in the tail lights of a boat trailer or corosion in some sockets and you will blow fuse after fuse

this(uhaul $17) unit uses the impulse signal to flash/activate your trailer lights lights

the one you want uses the high load constant hot wire in the group to power the trailer and just uses the impulse signal to swith the converter box.

it also has its own fuse so you are not overloading the factory fuse or wires.

you must also make sure that the converter is grounded.

also with all trailers always check the trailer ground wire(white) everytime you hook up

otherwize you will smoke the converter box...any converter box the $17 one or the $50 one
