I have a 1998 Disco and started having problems with the power seats. I tried to look in the archives for my problems regarding my seats. The issue is that the drivers side power seat only works when the door is open. The passenger seat will not work at all, I thought that it may had been a bad switch but I tried installing a new one that was not the case either. Anyone who may be familiar with this issue let me know.

We chased the same problem on our 97. Turned out to be fuse number 6 (20 amp)in the facia pane fuse box located under the steering wheel. Might be more info that you are interested in but I wrote up some details on the seat controls and have pasted them below. Good Luck..... Andy

Power Seat Controls 1997 Land Rover Discovery

Problem Symptoms:
All passenger seat electric controls inoperative. Driver's side seat controls were operative but only when the drivers side door was open and courtesy light switch activated.

Solution:
Problem was that the cigar lighter apparently was shorted and would blow the #6 fuse in the fascia fuse panel when it was pushed in the socket. That fuse is in the relay circuit that provided the ground circuit for both the driver-side and passenger seat motors when the ignition switch was in positions I or II. It also serves the visor lights and I think the heated seats (not certain about the heaters). After removing the cigar lighter and replacing the 20 amp fuse the problem was corrected.

Power Seat Control Circuits
Power is supplied to the switch controls for both front seats through fuses that are located under the driver-side seat. There are two fuses for each seat. As the switches are operated, voltage is applied to the appropriate motors. The ground path to complete the circuit for the motors is controlled by two relays also located under the driver-side seat. The passenger seat relay is protected by fuse #6 (20 amp) in the fascia fuse panel. That circuit is hot only when the ignition switch is in positions I or II, closing the relay and allowing the seat controls to function. That relay provides a ground path for both the passenger and driver seats. The drivers seat relay provides an alternate ground path for the driver's seat motors. That circuit is protected by fuse MF3 (60 amp) in the engine fuse block which is hot at all times. However, the ground circuit is completed only when the drivers door is open and the courtesy light switch is open. This allows the drivers seat controls to also work when the ignition is off but the drivers side door is open.
