Ok.. time for some feedback.. I've a 96 SD 4.0 5speed with almost 90,000 miles. Except for the steering box issue which I've posted about this truck has been bullet proof since the valve job at 40,000 done under warrantee. I love it.. but it's time to keep it forever, or get something new.. since I do about 25,000 miles a year they add up pretty fast (I bought it used at 52,000).. I've added new Bilsteins, about due for tires, and trying to decide / project what the maintenance expense will be if I try to take it to about 140,000 miles then retire it to second position.. I guess my major concerns long term is electrical / computer oriented.. Is there anybody out there with major mileage on their disco ? And what has been your experience.. Any feed back, thoughts, insights ?? Thanks !! Mike |

I agree. I bave a 96 also with 90K on it. Just keep up with all the recommended stuff. I do think that a ODB2 tool might start coming in handy as I get over 100K though. DonC 96SE7 |

I think they tend to like mileage rather than sitting. Ron |

Got 130K on my 94...a few niggles, but nothing more than any other motor out there...I'd keep it if it's good...better the devil you know.... Pete 94Disco |

A good friend once told me "the cheapest car you can own is the one you own right now". Of course, SHE wasn't a car-aholic like me, but it does make some sense. If your Disco has been reliable up 'til now, then why temp fate (not to mention give up a vehicle that you "love"). Just keep it, and take good care of it. My $.02... David |
