1. Dissolved marriage/relationship

"it's me, or the Rover!!!"
"...honey, pack yer bags!"

2. Any annoying ticking, clunking, or whining sound...you'll spend thousands on repairs only to discover you haven't eliminated the noise!

3. ECU...someone is making a Speak-n-Spell piggy-back engine management conversion, I think.

4. Reconstruction of thumb bone and joint...hammer glanced off whatever stuck/frozen part you were trying to dislodge and crushed the only gift of evolution you can show for!

5. Didn't someone on this forum burn not one, but two cars? Were they Rovers? Man, that had to be expensive!

Most expensive item to fix is the pride of the lifted Jeep owner as we pulled him out of our way and my girlfriend easily drove my stock LR up the same trail section he had been stuck on for a long time. ....Granted she drives that trail all the time but still it was absolutely priceless.

If you talk to my aunt, apparently the gas cap. I think she spent a few thousand at several different dealers only to discover the problem she was having was not having a gas cap.

The first car fire was on a 1968 Impala I bought (actually, it came with a '79 wagon with a blowed engine) for the engine. It was pretty well trashed before I set it on fire-no seats or interior, no engine, rear-end (that was hellish getting it towed to the boneyard).

The Blazer was a different story. After the statue of Liberty impersonation, I was able to get the fire out before it spread! Bought the Rover shortly thereafter and I DO NOT USE HEAT ON THE ROVER!!!

Peace,
paul

Fluid Leaks!

I've heard horror stories about people bringing there Rovers in for service, and being told that they need all these gaskets replaced, and it's gonna cost a truck load o' money in labor!

My '95 Disco leaks like a sonofabitch and my cheap fix is to keep on top of the fluid levels, and park in front of my neighbors house!

Balls!

I second the fluid leaks. What did someone from this web tell me?....You know your fluids are low in a rover when it stops leaking. :)

I thought it was the TIG welder, tube bender, drill press, grinders, and all the other crap I bought so I could build my own stuff. However, it turned out that the expensive part was trying to make up with my wife after the hundreds of hours I spent in the garage learning how to use the tools I bought.
