Well my water pump died yesterday night and we're trying to change my pump between my classes today, so I can go to the Uwharrie Safari tommorrow. I have all the parts, but we CANNOT get the bolt that attaches the viscous clutch and the fan to the water pump. My service manual says there is a special tool required, and we're tried calling Land Rover Charlotte, asking to borrow, or buy one of these tools with no luck. They want $300 labor to do it themselves, and have been absolutly no help at all. Anyone have any ideas how we can break this thing loose, or get a hold of one of these tools, or something, I really don't want to miss the Safari because of this damn thing. For anyone in the area, we're out at UNCC. Thanks, Jon 704.577.1683 - Cell |

JC, I'm sure there are other ways, but I used a 1 1/16" open end wrench on the fan clutch nut and a pair of channel-locks on the exposed snout of the water pump flange. Make sure you're twisting the right direction - think it's counter-clockwise, but I always get mixed up between my Disco and RRC which come off in opposite directions. Bill |

36 mm and it comes of with a right hand thread (turn it anti-clockwise). If it has been on for a long time or had any type of locktite applied, it will be very very difficult to remove. For the wrench, try www.bavauto.com Part # 115040 |
