OK, I am trying to decide which of these two bumpers to buy and I would like to hear some of the pros and cons from those of you that have either one of these two bumpers. I have 1996 Discovery and I want an air-bag compatible bumper. I would like to know which one fastens better, which one weighs more, what kind of winch can they take, which one has a better approach angle... etc Thanks in advance. |

I just got an ARB non-airbag version with a winch mount for $565 from Discount Rovers for my Disco 1. It is tough. It weighs so much that my front end is 1/2 lower then what it was with my brush bar. I just had 4 people on the ARB to test the strength, the thing didn't even creek. As far as cons go, the ride is harsher on road and the front-end dives during braking. Also the truck rocks back and forth when completely stopped. Of course an aftermarket suspension will fix all of these problems. The approach angle is okay, but not great. But Im not afraid to rub it against a rock. I think ARB recommends Warn winches, but I've heard that you can make custom brackets for Superwinches, Ramsey, etc. I'm not sure about the air-bag version, the airbag is still going to deploy, on impact, whether you have the crush cans (air-bag version) or not. The crush cans just add a weak point to the very tough ARB bull-bar. I wouldn't recommend the air-bag version. |

I have an ARB on my DII. But, if I could have purchased the TJM for the same money, I would have gone for it. I like the TJM a bit better than the ARB due to it's increase in clearance over the ARB. OTher than that, they seem equal in my opinion. |

I don't think there is much difference between the TJM T15 and the Airbag ARB. Both are made of steel. Both are airbag compatible. Both take the planetary winches like the Warn XD9000. Both mount the winch to a separate winch tray. If there is a difference in approach angle, it is not significant. Just go with the one that looks nicer to you. They're basically the same bumper. |

Does anyone know if the TJM will take a Superwinch Husky? Just curious. Rick |

It won't. "Both take the planetary winches like the Warn XD9000." |

I started off with an ARB, but then I got my OX hydraulic winch and opted for the TJM. I personall prefer the TJM, I think it looks nicer, tends to blend in better to the Disco than the ARB and also noticed, by comparing an ARB fitted to another Disco, the TJM does not stick out as far and seems to have a better approach angle as well. |

Everyone seems interested in the front bumper. I have an ARB on my D2 and hit the dirt just about every weekend. My ARB so far has done a good job at clearing obstacles. It is the rear bumper that is suffering the most. I have scraped the hell out of the rear bumper while my ARB seems to go scratch free. Brian |
