I have a US 96' Disco with 111k miles. When driving up hills, I start off going 60mph and quickly lose power until I can barely do 40-45mph even when the transmission drops to a lower gear. I have also noticed occasionally when driving on flat highway that my tachometer will start fluctuating quickly up and down by about 100-200rpm. Also, my check engine light is on but does not stay on. I recently changed out the muffler, fuel filter, plugs, and plug wires to try to correct the problem. What should I try next, vacuum system, O2 sensors, fuel additive to clean injectors???? |

Stop shotgunning parts at it, and have the check engine light diagnosed... fwiw- Craig |

OK. What is the best way (cheapest) to get the engine light diagnosed? I have read about sensors that connect to a laptop...or is this standard OBDII that I could have any mechanic read? LR dealership is so expensive... Thanks, Brian |

I'm having a very similiar problem, but I don't have any check engine lights on. I have changed the plugs and wires, fuel and air filters, and have been using fuel system cleaners in the last two tanks of gas. It still happens when ever I travel up this one long hill. I just ordered a VSS from Rover's North. I hope it makes a difference |
