Hi, I have a REALLY dumb question. I just followed the link to the Houston Land Rover Club to see the fire extinguisher mount referred to in a recent post. http://www.houstonlandroverclub.com/tt_05_26_2003.html I have been looking for a way to mount small FE in forward cabin, and I think that looks like a great set-up. I know this sounds ridiculous -- but, I don't even know if I have a foot rest?? (go ahead and laugh, I am! ) My rover is not here, so I can't check. Is THERE a foot rest in an '02??? (btw, I went to a different Home Depot yesterday and they HAD maglite clips ) Thanks, Jamie |

Jamie, I'm not sure about '02 Discos, but I do have a foot rest on my '03. It is a large rectangular-shaped plastic dead pedal near your engine hood release. It's pretty far over to the left, so most driver's probably end up missing it. -Eugene |

There is a foot rest on my 97...its called the clutch pedal Oh I love my 5 speed...with a foot rest and room for one of those dinky FE ( which by the way wont help you if you have an engine fire..Too small!) Josh |

I agree about those dinky FEs. I've had the 'opportunity' to put out two engine fires in my lifetime. Those small FEs would not have worked either time. It's kinda like bringing a knife to a gun fight. Thanks, Mike B. |

Here is pic of where my forward cabin fire extinguisher is mounted. It is a small marine model. I will also post pic of maglite mounted in rear cargo area (btw, those lit-up circles behind the flashlight are some of the hardwired 12V in cargo area. I have not decided where I want fwd cabin flashlight clips mounted. Thanks for your help, Jamie |

I still think it is a wise idea to have at least a small extinguisher within reach. We don't want accidents, but we do plan for that possibility by securing cargo, etc. If I ever got pinned in the front seat and no one else was around, I'd sure like to be able to reach something - it might not do much, but at least it gives you a chance. Thanks again for your help, Jamie |
