Im getting ready to herculine the whole inside of my disco and I want to fix all the rust places in my floorboard before I apply the herculiner. What are you guys doing to stop rust? What products are you using? Also will one gallon of herculiner do the whole inside of the disco or should I buy an extra quart? Just trying to keep the disco from rotting away! Justin P.S. Uwharrie was a blast!!!!! |

not sure what herculine is, but zero rust would be a good thing to use. I would treat the rust spots first with ras 'o' nil and then coat with zero rust. this will hold forever. did the same thing on a project car I am working on, looks really good. these are the products of choice at autobodystore.com forums. |

I just did alot of rust work on my disco. Both of my rear door jams were rusted badly. So I used a product I found at checker auto. I think Duplicolor makes it. Anyway it sprays on clear, except the areas that are rusted it turns it into a black primer. I applied 4 or five coats then after it dried I used Duplicolors spray on bedliner. It looks great as for stopping the rust forever, only time will tell. |

What kind of paint is applied to the whole bottom side from Disco, in order to protect it from Rust? It is a transparent coat, like paraffin. I´m interested to reaply this coat. Thank you |

I have used POR15 with great results on rust. Its well worth the $$ to get a trial pack to try it out. Its pretty impressive stuff. http://www.por15.com/ |

German, the original coating is called Waxoyl. I've seen ads for it in LROI, might be a place to start. |

I'm getting ready to do an M-416 trailer with the POR-15. I'll post here how it does in a couple of weeks when we get it done. I know people that swear by it, and say it is permanent, won't crack, anything. Worth a try. Good old fashioned naval jelly is a good preventative as well. |
