I rolled my drivers side window down and right when it was about to the bottom, I heard a clunk. I pulled the door panel off this evening, and sure enough the piece that looks like a half-moon and has teeth on one end (I assume we call this a gear) was laying in the bottom of the door. Anyone know where this piece goes, and how in the hell to get it in where it needs to be? It is supposed to rain tomorrow, and I would like to have my window working. Thanks Brendan 97 XD |

Have you pulled the passenger side door panel to have a look and compare? |

No, but that's a great idea. It looks like the gear part was tack welded to the "glass holder" and maybe the weld came loose. I will shoot a photo in a minute (waiting for camera battery to charge) to share. |

Sure enough, broken welds. There are three spots that mate the gear to the window frame thingie. I am going to make an impromtu repair by mating the pieces together with three screws. Wish me luck. B.K. |

Brendan DO NOT attach the top of the regulator to the window track with screws. It must slide in the track. There is a TECH AID in the Tech section. Hope you get this first. |

Thanks Robert for the reply. My response post wasn't very clear. I removed everything this morning and I am heading to a shop to have the piece re-welded. I have shot photos and plan on posting them soon. Here is what appears to have happened. A washer broke in the channel, which allowed one of the X frame things to pop out of the channel. The stress caused the X frame thing to bend, which in-turn put a bunch of force on the gear (half-moon thing) and popped the three welds. I think I can fix it. |

I had the exact smae thing happen to me and the tech section of the board wasn't real helpful. How exactly did you get the motor out in order to weld it back on? Would you mind taking lots of pictures? |
