I just replaced the front pads, had to bleed the lines for the soft pedal. They now feel like I have new pads, but apparently the rotors have a little warp. Where do I begin on pulling the rotors. thanks, Matt

Matt,

Here is a Dweb link to an article about wheel bearing replacement - but same info applies for removal of rotors:

http://www.discoweb.org/faq/wbearing.htm

The only other step is to seperate the rotor from the hub - 5 bolts and a little gentle pounding.

These are front instructions - rear are the same except the axle will slide out all as one piece when you unbolt the drive flange. Also, rear rotors have the ABS exciter ring bolted on - this has to be transferred over to your new rotor.

BTW - Rover rotors are close to min thickness when new - so normally turning them down is not recommended.

Bill, which aftermarket rotors would you recommend for a D2? How about a '95 RRC? Would you recommend LR pads or aftermarket pads? Thanks in advance (I met you at Robesonia)

Yep - I remember - coming to MAR?

Not to sure about D2 stuff to be honest - a friend has used a bunch of the "cheap" Brembo aftermarket rotors with decent results. I went with the DBA vented/crossdrilled stuff from DAP on mine - like the stopping power, but they are loud and eat pads like crazy (still would make the same choice again though). Personally I like the pads like Ferodo or Beck-Arnley because they are a soft organic compound which works well off road and dry quickly, and still work well when wet - the downside is short pad life (but they are so quick to change that it really doesn't matter to me). I think the OEM and Mintex have to many squeal issues (at least with me), but others will argue differently.

Indeed I am MAR bound! Looking forward to it, and like most, I'm up to my ass in projects to finish before then.

Thanks for the brake info, I was considering the cross-drilled DAP rotors, wasn't sure about hte life span, and I didn't know about the "eating" tendancies, but it makes sense. Not familiar with the Beck-Arnley products, but I'll look into them as well. Thanks! See you at MAR!
