My 97 disco's check engine light came on for the nth time. Using the OBD II Code Reader, it displays code 1448, which is "Evaporative System Purge Valve Flow 2 Fault". Is it safe to assume that the purge valve (located right behind the charcoal canister) is bad? LR says it is a fairly common problem.

After talking to my Local LR dealer I would say that just using the OBDII reader will get you close to the ball park on most items. He stated that on a few occasions you will get saya O2 sensor bad via OBDII reader, but when he hooks it up to the "TestBook", he will get MAF sensor bad. So I don't think it is safe to say that your part is bad, but if it is cheap enough, then change it just to be sure... "Hmmm doesn't that sound like I just say I Don't Know" |

I cleaned the purge valve electrical connection yesterday. Just waiting to see if it will happen again. |
