I have read in a few groups about the difficulty people have had getting the Land Rover to cover the corrosion warranty so I thought I would post my experience.

I found rust around the Alpine windows of my 97 Disco. I went to the manual and found I had a 6 year warranty, only problem is it stated I was suppose to take it in yearly for a check up. I NEVER did this. Anyway, I took the truck down to my local Rover dealer and he wrote all the info down and told me he would fax it to Rover and give me a call when he receives the news. That was last Thursday. He called me today and told me to bring it down Monday and they will fix it. Glad they stood by their product this time! Although, they haven't fixed it yet, so we will see what happens when I get it back...

You're lucky. I've had the same issue (bought my '97 a year ago) and have gone so far as to even write the president of LRNA (Howard Mosure)with no luck. The dealership hasn't been supportive, and I've even contacted the Better Business Buruea. I'm not sure what to do next, but as much as I love my truck, I've got a REAL bad taste in my mouth from this whole situation. pissed

I had rust removed from the area above the rear wheel wells (inside where the rear doors close) on my 1996 Discovery last year. I took it to the local dealer, they checked it out and agreed that it fell under the rust warranty. No questions asked. I did point out to them that I considered that my maintenance visits to them over the years since purchase brand new should count toward the annual rust inspection clause. They agreed without arguement.

The thing is , they really did nothing. Those are not the areas tht get hit the worst.... :)

Kyle,

What areas should I be checking for rust?

I asked my service adviser about the "yearly checkups" and he said he has never seen LR deny coverage due to lack of the checkups.

But like I said, I take it in on Monday so we will see what happens when they are done. I wouldn't be suprised if I got a bill!!

Behind the plastics in the rear and up inside the rear between the quarter and the inner body shell.... The dealerships have to know about this but yet you dont so they dont fix it...

For starters , keep it clean. Not mud caked. And get all up in there with the wash wand....
