Having trouble w/ my mass air-flow sensor setting
off my check engine light. Dealer says $500 to fix. I can buy the sensor and do it myself but I still need the light reset, but don't want to pay dealer to reset if possible. HELP!

thanks, Ken

The dealer has the highest prices anywhere. You can change it yourself easily. Reseting the check engine light depends on the model LR you have. There should also be some identifying marks on the airflow meter, like 2AM, 3AM, 20AM.

Then there's also the possibility that you don't need an airflow meter. Best thing to do is to swap with a known good one to see if it solves the problem.

I have a 97'Disco. Will I be able to reset the check engine light? I will e-mail for a price on the mass air-flow sensor.

The problem w/the sensor is intermittent. The check engine light was reset 2 mons. ago. I seem to have better acceleration since the light has been activated.

Have you cleaned the MAF sensor? With injector cleaner or something like that (NOT WD40 or oil-based stuff). Mine was setting off the ses light till then.

To reset the light on my (2001 D2) you just have to undo the battery for 10 secs.
