I put the key in the other day and nothing. I mean absolutely nothing. No dash lights. Dome light. The power locks wouldn't even work. Sat in the car for a while kept trying the key. Noticed quite clicking noise when I would turn stuff on like the hazards or hellas or door remote. Sounded like relays clicking. But turned on hella switch or dome light while the hazards were making the clicking sound (again, not actually on or lit up though) and it would stop. Fooled around with it like this for a while and then the alarm went off and everything popped back to life and the car started. Drove it home and it was driving really weird. Idle was off- way too high and the rpm's kept jumping up and down while driving and pretty much stayed at 2000. This happened once before a couple weeks ago and it eventually after a day cleared up and drove normally. Any ideas on what the Prince of Darkness has done to my car? A short? An issue with the security system? |

Bryan, A very similar thing happened to me recently on my wife's 95... Wouldn't start, so I popped the hood and shook the negative battery cable and it started. I then took off the cable and cleaned both ends (there was some corrosion at the battery because there is always a small draw)including down at the block. Hit the areas with a wire brush, tested for continuity, and coated the ends with some vaseline and it worked fine. Until... A couple days later it happened again. Finally I put my battery from my 94 in it and it has been fine. I suspect that there is an intermittent problem with the connections to the plates in the battery. Check your battery and make sure it is secured to the truck. Might not be it, but worth a look... Bet you know your radio code by heart now ;-) Chuckster |

As a matter of fact, I realised that I had memorized the number on the radio card on my way home. |

Had the exact same thing happened, turned out to be my old battery, out a new one in and that fixed it.... |

I know that they thoroughly cleaned the battery when the 60k service was done (which was 3 weeks ago) though if that makes a difference. |
