I'm seriously considering buying my first Rover, a 96 SE Disco in Epsom Green (all the extras, 87k miles, $10.5k), but I really hate dark green. IMHO, a Discovery should be white, and should have mud on it. Has anyone priced a good repainting job recently? Do Land Rover dealerships offer this, and if so, is the quality good? I'd like to have something that would be indistinguishable from a factory paint job. |

complete waste of money. If you want white you should have no problem finding a white 96 for that money Ron |

ignoring the "value" of the Green Disco, how much would a complete change of colour and repaint cost? and where about would you get this done? :/ |

In my experience, you're MUCH better off finding a vehicle that is the color that you want to begin with. Repainting a vehicle, especially a different color, is a major expense and will drastically lower its re-sale value. In addition, the "re-paint" will never be as good as the factory job, unless you spend major bucks to have it "done right" (several grand$$$), and for that kind of money, you can find the right color vehicle. Don't buy the Epsom Green unless you like it (or can at least live with it). David |

For $100 I'll paint it in Rustoleum white. Just like I did my IIA. Trust me. You'll like it! |

My Disco is being repainted this week, here in Charlotte, NC. It is a 97 SE and is being repainted Beluga Black, same as before. It's getting done as a result of the recent hailstorm, except my dad and I agreed to take off all the molding etc. to prep it. So, for the removal of 28 dents and a complete repaint after we took off all trim, bumbers, molding, roof rack, etc. is about $2300. Anyone in Charlotte that needs a good body work or paint place, I have just the place. this guy does an incredible job (he just repainted my dad's 82 Volvo and it looks way better than even the original paint job). He does the really good jobs, like Benz and stuff. Also does great body work, and he'll work with you on price if you'll do some prep work. BradNC |

repainting the same color is much cheaper than changeing the color. If you change the color you will also need to paint in the door jams, and under the hood or it will look like shit. |

The previous owner of my Disco had it repainted (2 months before I bought it!) after a hailstorm dented it up pretty badly. Because of the damage, the entire car had to be repainted. I think that he paid $350 after the $500 deductible. The cost would have been well over $4000 if he had to pay for it without the insurance company. It was done professionally using Mercedes Benz black paint, and I haven't had any peeling or bubbles form in the paint yet. But I agree with everyone else, it would be a wiser choice to buy a light colored Disco. Dark Discos are a pain in the ass to clean, and it gets really hot really fast. If you have your heart set (and the $$$) on repainting that green 96 then go for it, but that money could be used for some serious mods! |

Go with Camo, then no one will see it and you won't have to worry about what it looks like |

If you ever paiont a car get it done in a non-factory color so it is unique. Once my paint is shot Im getting it stripped and primed black then getting the same material that is put on chalk boards srpayed on. So then I can write or draw anything I want. What would you write on yours? I was thinking maybe a big "V-TEC Racing" or "Type-R" to poke fun at the rice burners who think that a sticker and a coffee can exhaust make their car faster than a prosche, or howabout "clean cars suck," for the disco owners. I live in Indianapolis so come this sunday I would definetly go with a checkedred flag apperance. The list goes on and on - cow spots, zebra stripes, Writing your own bumper stickers. Tell me what you would put on yours Warren |
