Posted this on Expedition Exchange, but I think more people will read this forum. Found a 2001 Disco II with 26k on the clock. Great color, said to be in great shape. Has Performance Package (ACE), SLS, 3rd row seats. SE model. It's an early '01, in service date is October '00, I think. Has all the service records. It's not at a Land Rover dealership. They want $28,000 for it. What should I offer? Anything in particular to look for? Finally, Goodyear Wrangler HP v. Michelin XPC 4x4 tires...what's better? I'm 95% on-road, but off road traction is important. |

My personal exp. with the wrangler GY are great for offroading except snow. I usually air down to 20psi and they bite everything. For the LR not being from LR dealer that is a high price but u get all the options u dont need for offroading. I would get it from a LR dealer. GL |

I got my 99 disco II with 30K miles last summer from a jeep dealer for $26,300. check www.kbb.com for a price. i absolutely love my truck. as long as you do your research on the vehicle you should be kosher. a gentleman on this site looked up the history of my disco before i bought it. drive it WITHOUT the radio on. check ALL gadgets (windows, wipers, lights, locks, etc). make sure you get 2 keys, and that both remotes are functioning. check all lamps for cracks, h2o in the lamps, etc. take a good look underneath. is it rusty or are there signs of hard off road use? check under the hood for plates near the radiator indicating warranty recall work. have the brakes checked...i had to replace pads and rotors after 10K miles. i opted to look for a truck w/o ace because the more moving parts, the more that can go wrong. off road tires are more plentiful in 16". you'll love your new disco if you research the hell out of it. good luck. |

Go to Carmax.com and search for Discos. They have DOZENS of 01s for 27k or less. All with 9 to 14k miles, some even have 4k! I think they are all SD models. I almost bought one but got an 02 from the LR dealer. BTW - this is the best vehicle ever! |

Thats an excellent deal if you want the ACE. At a dealership, even a used Rover dealer, expect to pay thirty or more for a vehicle similar to the one you are describing. 27 would be an absolute steal on yours. ACE does make the ride harder though, I opted to leave it off of mine. if its got a clean title i would get it... Oh yeah, and find one with Lightstone leather. Its worth the extra money and looks soooo omuch better than bahama beige! -Will |
