So last weekend I installed my RTE lower shock mounts to fit the OME N76 shock. After installing everything I found that the mounts come awfully close to my tire and rim. Has anyone had a problem with this? I am afraid that the slightest hit on those mounts could send them right into my tire. Also does anyone have any pics of their lower mounts? Thanks tenacstud |

The round edge of the RTE Mounts should be facing your tire if it is not you have them on backwards. |

Yeah I know I have them installed correctly but even with the round edge toward the tire they seem close. However, after talking to a couple of different people none have had any problems. I am trying to call Rovertym but I think their site is down. Does anyone have their number? T |

also consider you can put them on top or below the stock mount. that makes a difference. rd |

I mounted them below the mount so the shocks wouldnt bottom out. I guess if they do hit a lot I could try them on top. T |

I haven't seen the RTE lower shock mounts in person so don't know how they attach. I just made my own to fit the N76s for a few dollars. Beside the labor, the bolts were the most expensive component. The nice thing is that they can easily be removed if you want to return to the old style shock.

Moe, You sure those bolts aren't just a bit too short? Nice job on the adapters. -P |

Hey Moe - that is a nice job. I've had the rockware lower mounts for about three years now. Very similar to Rovertym's. They haven't bent but they have started to finally show the effects of hanging down low and out in the open... Looking a little beat. I will be doing something very similar once I decide to do something about the problem. |

I started with a 2" long bolt and settled on 2-1/4". Anything longer exposes the bolt and thread to the elements. Above the nut is a flat and spring washer, and being a 3/4" bolt it can be torqued down hard. |

Yeah I like those mounts also. However, after dropping the money on the RTE I will just use those for a while. I did go back and re-mount them last night and it feels better. I just kicked the back of the mount toward the tire and drilled a new hole. It brought the "skis" out a couple of inches. So I will give that a try until I bang them up in Moab and get pissed.
