rovers north sales the NRP exhaust sytems. this can be bought with a "performance Cat..." Y header. its a bit costly from them and could proberly be sourced from somewhere else at a better price, but i am curious as to anyones experence with the system. i am due for a complete replacement of my exsisting pipes and would be curious as to anyones thoughts.

one word......Midas!! $250 and you can spend the extra $$ on.......well you decide. sure it doesn't sound as bad ass as the NRP and you don't get the extra 5 HP, but i was happy with my Midas system on my '94 i had years ago.
just didn't see the overwhelming necessity to spend the big $$ on it.

Garrett,
Did you do just the muffler and pipe or did you do the whole system with cats and Y pipe?

from the cat back including muffler/resonator. kept the cats and Y pipe. hell those Y pipes cost mucho bucks. summit racing sells cats for about $60 though.

So if I need the cats and Y pipe, the NRP would still be the way to go?

I cant comment on the NRP cat back setup but I have one of the NRP Y-pipes. They do very nice work. It fits much more snug and raises the cats out of harms way a bit. Plus it has a nice triple Y design that flows a bit better than stock...but not enough to go out of your way to get one. My cats were wasted and the stock Y-pipe had some cracks and dents so I decided to just spend the $ for the NRP pipe. Of course, a good muffler shop can hook you up for much less, but the NRP stainless stuff is nice if you want to drop the dough on it.

oh, if you want the NRP stuff, just get it from them direct:

like dave said if you want to spend the $$. otherwise any local pipe shop can set you up nice. just get the cats at summit and your local shop can do the rest. some folks just use a straight pipe instead of the cats. that is of course if you live in an area where emmission testing is not done.

yeah - either get it directly from NRP, or just source it locally at a good muffler shop.

I bought the NRP cat-back, as I had just had my cats and cracked y-pipe replaced under warranty. Now, if I had it to do over, I would have just had the entire system done at a local shop and use a cheaper flowmaster setup for the cat-back, and a good custom job for a set of stainless y-pipes with some high-flow cats. Would have cost less than all NRP, and after running it off-road for a bit, I wouldn't have known the difference.

--but-- having said all that, NRP - nice product if money isn't the issue.

I have the NRP exhaust from the cat back and i love it. It has a nice deep growl and was easy to install.
I justified it by looking at how long i plan to keep the machine (until it dies) and figured it would balance out and be nicer to have the NRP reather than replace a steel setup every few years.
