Hey guys, I'm starting to set myself up with sume nice offroading toys... I'm starting smal, just installed an 800w sound system, no i am getting 2 sunroofs installed. I plan on getting a full length roof rack, and I'm looking to manual pop up style sun roofs, what roof rack would be best with these sunroofs. If the sunroofs werent a factor, what rack would you guys recomend, I like the look of the factory rack, but they seem extrememly expensive, also where can I find a good price for a rack? Last questions involve winch bumpers, Safarigaurd is out of the question, too much money... The arb seems good(non airbag right?) how about the factory winch bumper, how do those stand up. Plan on geting a rte lift in the future...
Can use some input guys, feel free to email.
Best regards,
Chris

whats your total budget? list in priority what you want and we can recomend from that. some would say the winch first , but i personally use my roof rack so mush that i consider it my favorite most used mod.

Since i got the sytem instaled, I have no room to store things, so the roof rack is my #1 priority, then I want to get the winch and bumper, then the lift. Budget is about 3500 as of now.
Best regards, and thanks for that quick response.

If I'm not mistaken (and I very well could be), the aftermarket pop-up sunroofs are probably no taller than the factory ones which means that just about any roof rack will suffice.

Since August I've been using a D2 Adventure Rack on my D1 and it's been perfectly fine - width is the same but there is a bit of overhang on the front and rear that gives extra cargo area. I recommend the Adventure Rack and I've heard of places as low as $850.

On the subject of bumpers, I've had the RTE Standard Bumper since October and I've been very pleased overall and enthusiastically recommend RTE. RTE bumper is about $750 with the skid plate.

Haven't purchased a winch myself and the discussions here are as varied as there are winch models. But I would expect to pay in the range of $800 for one.

So that's about $2350 and you still have over a thousand to go for other niceties, like RTE Sliders ($600).

Good Luck and remember to post pics when you're done!

IMHO, if you're going to put a rack on it, I think you'd be wasting money to get sunroofs. You might not mind it, but I wouldn't like it. I'm not fond of Disco sunroofs anyway, They're too small IMHO, to be worth bothering with. I liked my Disco that didn't have 'em.

Which roofrack depends on what you're going to be carrying. I've got a friend w/ one that he's broken the cross-bars and floor mesh on it, and it hasn't had THAT much on it. I'd go with a Safety Devices rack, but, they're not really cheap, though.

For a brushguard, I'd recommend either the RTE, or the KVT.

Mi dos centavos, YMMV.....

I agree with Leslie. If you want to roof rack, the last thing you want are sunroofs. If you ever were to actually open the roof while driving your ears might implode. I have both and my roofs stay closed while the rack is on. The wind noise is just too much.

Second - throw budget out the window. A good rack is going to be a major wallet rupture. Same with a good winch. If you can't afford to do everything right then spead the mods out over time. Better to wait and get it done right than to do it sloppy now.

Deals can be had in bumpers although I would look elsewhere from ARB. Either RTE, KVT, or TJM and all should be pretty reasonable in price.

i reccomend finding a used Adventure (factory) rack, for the price of about $500, or new is 850. it looks great and is super strong. 2nd choise if you want a rack that is flat is the ARB, then maybe brownchurch.

i would get a KVT bumper and Ramsey RE12000 winch. probably $1500.

after the winch bumper is on you'll want to get the lift right away, since you'll be sagging. say $500 for a lift.

thats $2850.. total. the extra money should be spent on HD axels and a detroit for the rear. :)

Wow, thanks guys, lots of good advice. I am going with the sun roofs basicly because I like the extra light, dont plan on using them much, just makes the truck feel more open in my opinion. I am going to go with the adventure rack, i'm looking for a good used one. Bumper wise, probably the rovertym, hows the ground clearance compared to the others? Also i'll probably get the 4" easy lift from rovertym... not sure yet, i have time to look around.
Anyone that knows of a rack for sale, let me know please.

Damn Chris, go ahead and reverse that preference order of yours. Start with springs, tires, bumper, winch, sliders, roof rack, sun roof. I can just see you getting stuck and looking up at those nice sun roofs while you whip out the cell phone to call a tow truck because you lack a winch. Just a thought.

It sits in the bumper and about 4" into the grill, I also mounted a piece of diamond plate atop the winch to hold the solinoid pack and it makes a handy tool/beverage holder!!! I do like the rovertym blade!
