JUST COMPLETED OME LIFT AND I AM 105% SATISFIED. I AM WONDERING IF THE 235/85/16'S ARE THE WAY TO GO. WHAT ABOUT JUST KEEPING THE STOCK SIZE? I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THE 85'S ARE GOING TO LOOK PROPORTIONAL WITH THE WHEEL WELLS. I DONT WANT THE HIGH SKINNY LOOK AND I REALLY DONT WANT TO TRIM TOO MUCH. OH YEAH I'M GOING TO GET MUD TERRAINS.

Depends on the height of the lift. OME HD = about 2" which will fit 245 75 R16 easy with no rubbing. They are 10mm wider and a bit shorter than the 235 85 R16. If you want bigger and wider and have a 2" lift minimum, you can fit 265 75 R16 with little or no rubbing.

235 85 is THE true mark of the Jedi.

Save the money on tires and spend it on a new keyboard. Yours seems to be broken, the caps lock is stuck ;-)

Wow Ho Chung that's a great picture !! The tires look awesome. What all is involved with the OME lift? Just new coil springs? Are any modifications needed for the steering/brake lines/drive shafts?

Thanks!

Oh, do you have a link to the OME lift kit?

Cheers,

Yea, MTB I figured that out. Hhehehe, I was too excited. I see OME springs and shocks, is that all thats needed for the 2" lift? Rovertym.com appears to be down.

Thanks,

in most cases yes. But some people do get drive line vibes, your steering will wonder more on the highway. The ride will be stiffer but it does handle better. beside that with springs & shock no mods needed if going with old man emu stuff.
As for 2" with OME call John or Ho @ EE they will answer any questions

go with the 265/ 75 16's. Just space out your rear quarter panels (10 min job) and you'll have no rubbing, and no skinny tire look.
BTW - I have the Interco TrXus tire, which has a smaller tread width than actual width so it decreases your chances of rubbing. I think that the more square the tire is, the more rubbing you'll encounter.

Ho

I seem to recall that Sam had the dickens of the time not 10 yards from that very hill -- his rear tires were alternately getting hung up and rubbed on the rear panels. So much so to the point that we had to lift the rear up so the tires would not bind.

Wasn't that Sam? Or was that another truck that had that problem?

Put 255/85-16 on and space your rear axle back an inch.
Trim as needed.

OK, I looked in the "tech" section I saw no information on the spacing of the rear axle back. What is involved in this mod, and what are the benefits. I would guess departure clearance, is there any others? Is there an additional risk for drive line vibes?

emilio, what is involved in the spacing of the rear quarter panel? I would like to get 265..235s tend to be a bit to narrow for all of the sand that i find myself on in baja...does anyone have any input on this...thanks i went with the 245s for my mexico trip and they worked great!! from mud to sand, to crawling over rocks, but would still like the clearence of a bigger tire..

Rovertym makes an A-arm spacer and heavy duty lower rear links. Talk to John and he can set you up. No extra driveshaft mods needed than with the normal lift, although you could get a double carden shaft and have it made about 1" longer.
