The other day I noticed that the dash "push-out" ashtray on Discos is the same size as the light switch panel on the other side of the dash (where the fog light and cruise control buttons are).

Has anyone removed their ashtray and installed another panel of buttons like the other side in its place?

I was thinking the Disco's left-hand/right-hand drive "symmetrical" dash layout could be tweaked to make additional buttons for aux. lights, lockers, etc... fit cleanly into the existing dash. I've even seen places like East Coast Rovers put specific callouts like "ARB front" on the buttons.

Personally, I like to have mods work cleanly into the existing design. Just a thought.

They're designed that way to facilitate making both LHD and RHD vehicles....

I've not seen it done before, but it'd be awfully easy to do just that....

Have at it, and take pics!

It's been done, everything fits perfectly. That's where I have my rocket launcher buttons :)

Ned - even better - you can replace the coin tray with the NBS RR 6-switch panel and have more switches than you know what to do with. It pops right in....

You know - now that I think about it, it may have been on the 95 Classic with the Disco dash - sorry can't remeber right now.

Anyhoo - there is a square switch panel that has 6 factory switch locations in it and it pops right into the Disco dash.

I used to have some pix - I'll see if I can find them.

Go to http://www.geocities.com/baja/canyon/4628/

The pic is hard to see but it is a nice setup. I did mine last fall and it looks great:)
The parts I got from Rover Connection each switch cost $9 and the 6 switch panel cost $5
a little pricey but well worth the $$ for a factory look.

Mike B-
That link to your Disco is exactly what I'm talking about. Nice and clean.

I've only got 2 Hella 4000s on the brushguard right now, but I can see those switches filling up quickly.

Anyone know how ECR (East Coast Rovers) gets "ARB" and stuff like that printed on the buttons? Is it a sticker? Are they the only ones offering this?
