I still don't understand exactly what's going on with Discos and their driveshafts not liking lifts, etc... but from what I've read here, it seems like I need to replace my driveshafts eventually. But I asked my local Rover mechanic if I should switch them out because of the OME HD springs I'm running and he said with a '98, I didn't need to worry about it. Did they switch things later in the run of DIs? |

Yep - rotoflexes on D1's ended approx late '96 or early '97 MY and went back to a u-joint. Bill |

Bill- Thanks for the info. Does that go for the front and back? |

The fronts always had u-joints until they went to the Double-Cardon U-joint in the Series IIs. But, then there arose the question of the strength of the DC driveshaft due to the smaller u-joints used in the DC shaft. No easy answers, eh? Paul |

Well so my question is, is there a chance I'll need to change my front as a result of the suspension lift? |

I have a '99 DII and was considering putting on OME HD springs in front. I currently have SLS and was considering spacers to equal out for the new springs. Is it really a given conclusion that I am going to start shredding the rotoflex every time I go to the store? I know that the rotoflex isn't a u-joint but I have been reading a lot lately about how any kind of lift will start destroying your rotoflex. Are they really that shitty that they can't handle the lift associated with OME HD springs? Thanks Rick |

not really shitty, they just get a little stretched with a lift. Stretched & spun isn't good for rubber... |
